same supply challenge

One of the suggestions from the Online Card Class Kick Start was to try challenging yourself and another crafter to work with the same product. The lovely Cassie contacted me and asked if I'd like to give it a go and I jumped at the chance! We decided on two Stampin' Up sets - Woodgrain and Reason to Smile. These were two sets that I hadn't inked up yet and thought it would be a great opportunity to rectify that :)

I was inspired by the Woodgrain stamp set and a new paper pad to go with some autumnal colours. I wanted to include one of the flowers from the Reason To Smile set and yet wasn't sure that flowers were very autumnal. I looked to my garden for inspiration and there trying it's best to ride out the drop in temperatures was a little patch of Rudbeckia their yellow heads still standing proud. So here you go - my floral autumn card :)

I stamped the Woodgrain onto Soft Stone card with Versamark to give a subtle background (hope you can see it) and added a strip of the most gorgeous striped paper from Lily Bee Design's Autumn Spice pad. I stamped the flower onto Neenah Solar White card; selectively stamping the head with pigment ink and the stem with Distress Markers. I then over-stamped the flower head with the detailed image in a darker hue.

I can't wait to see what Cassie did with the two stamp sets and whether our cards are at all alike. Time to pop over and take a look :)

Supplies: Stamps - Stampin' Up woodgrain, reason to smile, create a cupcake; Inks - Versamark, Hobbycraft pigment ink peach, Martha Stewart meyer lemon, Versacolor pinecone; Distress Markers - shabby shutters; Card - Papertrey Ink soft stone, Neenah solar white; Paper - Lily Bee Design autumn spice; Ribbon - Stampin' Up more mustard; Button - Stampin' Up designer buttons playground; Twine - Anchor mercer crochet

This is my second post today - please scroll down for a bit of There She Goes Halloween fun!

It's Friday morning, so that means it must be time for another challenge from CAS-ual Fridays :) We want you to toot your own horn by creating a card inspired by your own blog header. Our sponsor this week is A Muse Studio with a prize package worth over $35!

I love my blog header designed by Kristina of Two Happy Mamas - two colours that make me happy, a bit of texty fun with a clean and simple style. I spent a while searching through my stamp sets to find a 'happy' stamp in a clean font and a 'birthday' in more of a script font. The grey strip underneath was inspired by how my blog looks from my phone - the mobile version shows the post date as a grey block with white writing.

I suppose it's only fitting that a card inspired by my blog should be CAS! Here's links to the rest of the DT to keep you inspired:

bite me!

Good morning! At There She Goes this morning a bunch of the Design Team are sharing treat holders. I couldn't resist a quick and simple pillow box. The box itself is a straightforward die cut from white card however it is dressed up with the most fabulous rich purple ribbon from The Ribbon Carousel. The ribbon is double sided - purple and black and so suited to Halloween. I wrapped the pillow box with the ribbon in a big purple bow and then dressed it up with a quick tag using one of my all time favourite TSG sets; Hauntingly Delightful. Don't you just love a cute vampire LOL!

Pop by the TSG blog to grab links to more treaty goodness:)

Supplies: Stamps - There She Goes hauntingly delightful; Inks - Versafine onyx black; Dies - Spellbinders labels 4, Stampin' Up pillow box, bitty banners; Twine - The Twinery lilac; Ribbon - Ribbon Carousel; Markers

case study challenge 110

Well the weather has certainly been autumnal here - lots of rain and lots of wind! The latter is a real shame as it means the leaves are already starting to fall and I want to prolong their colour for as long as possible! With this being our last week in September it means it is also our last week with Torico as our muse at CASE Study :( I have so enjoyed Torico's clean, cute style and has been such fun to CASE. So here's our last Torico card for inspiration.

Isn't that butterfly stunning! So elegant and dreamy. However, I just couldn't pull myself away from cute this week and so I printed out another of Torico's digis to colour - Robot with balloon. In line with Torico's card I used a full length mat of patterned paper, the image on a die cut and the sentiment below. Here's my card:

Continuing with my glossy accents experiments, I covered the ballon and am now managing to get quite a good result. Only one or two air bubbles this time!

Oh and Torico is sponsoring the challenge this week with two of her wonderful Halloween digi stamps - even more incentive to have a go and join us at CASE Study this week. Here's the rest of the crew for more inspiration:

lil' inker designs sneak peeks day 3

I'm back today with the next sneak peek from Lil' Inker Designs :)  Hopefully as part of the new release hop you’ve arrived here from Alyssa's blog. If not pop by and see Laura to start at the beginning so you don’t miss anything :)

I'm not sure if you noticed; on my children's party invitation that I shared on Monday, the invitation details were stamped onto the most perfect little stitched mat. Here's a reminder:

I can't tell you how stoked I was when I found out LID were releasing these mats! The dies nest into one another - 6 in total. The first five cut a mat and stitched edge and then the largest die just cuts the stitched edge. The possibilities with these dies are endless!

Today I'm sharing a project using these Stitched Mats along with the Balloon dies and You're Invited stamp set that I showed you on Monday. Monday's post was aimed at a children's party invitation but I wanted to highlight how versatile these sets are and that they can be used for adult occasions too.

I created a wrap for my invitation out of some Summer Starfruit card and the most gorgeous ribbon from Angela Ligouri. Inside is nestled the invitation which is backed onto white card with a couple of mats of patterned paper followed by a scallop of white card across the top. Over this I added the invitation stamped in grey onto Soft Stone card die cut with a stitched mat and then popped up two patterned paper balloons with twine strings.

The colours in the second photo seem a bit washed out - the real colours are more like the top photo vibrant and fun yet classy (hopefully).

Well that's me for today. I'm back with more LID on Friday :) Now it's time to hop on over to Laura's blog :)

Supplies: Stamps - Lil' Inker Designs you're invited; Inks - Versafine smoky gray; Card - Stampin' Up confetti white, summer starfruit, Papertrey Ink soft stone; Paper - My Mind's Eye bluebell; Dies - Lil' Inker Designs balloons; Dies - Papertrey Ink small scolloped border; Twine - The Twinery buttercream; Ribbon - Angela Ligouri

    papertrey ink blog hop

You may not be seeing a lot of activity here on the blog related to my participation in the Online Card Class Kick Start, but believe me behind the scenes there has been frenzied activity! I've been clearing, sorting, tidying, decluttering, recycling and finally making new storage and new ink charts. I plan on sharing a post about what I've been up to at a later date and part of that entails a giveaway :)

Anyway, back to the here and now; day 7s Kick Start homework was to challenge yourself. Suggestions were to pair up with a friend for a same supplies challenge, collect a few items for a limited supply challenge or use a challenge off the internet. Well as it happens I really wanted to have a go at  Papertrey Ink's September blog hop. Here's the gorgeous inspiration board for this month with a theme of felt & fabric wraps.

Do you see those little coin purses - first picture on the middle row? That neutral colour with yellow twine totally inspired this little fabric wrap!

I used this tutorial for the wrap but simplified it by using just one layer of fabric which I frayed at the edges for interest. A simple little tag perfect for the season finished it off.

That's me for today, I'm back tomorrow with another sneak peek of Lil' Inker Designs new release :)

Supplies: Stamps - Papertrey Ink lovely layers; Inks - Hero Arts latte; Card - Papertrey Ink rustic white; Die - Papertrey Ink jar label; Rhinestone - Stampin' Up; Fabric; Twine

lil' inker designs sneak peeks day 1

Just popping in here today with a sneak peek of Lil' Inker Designs latest goodies)  Hopefully as part of the new release hop you’ve arrived here from Isha's blog. If not pop by and see Laura to start at the beginning so you don’t miss anything :)

I saw this wedding invitation on Pinterest the other day and knew it would be fabulous adapted for a party invitation with the string closure representing balloon strings.

Now it just so happens that Lil' Inker Designs are releasing the most gorgeous balloon dies. Take a little look - yep the balloons have LIDs signature pierced edges :)

    Here's a little close up:

And the inside shows another newbie to the LID line up - a stamp set entitled " You're Invited" just perfect for party invitations.

If you take a peek at the end of this post you will see the logos for the new products - look at all those balloon options to choose from. Next to those is the party hat dies - yep we've got hats too! Finally the details of the "You're Invited" set. I've also shown you another sneak peek which is being highlighted on later in the week - see if you can spot it :) I will be back on Wednesday with more LID.

    cas-ual fridays 71

Today at CAS-ual Fridays we are asking you to celebrate the first day of Autumn with us and make a Fall inspired project :) Our sponsor this week is Great Impressions Stamps who are offering a $25 Gift Certificate.

Autumn for me is all about rich colours and I wanted to capture some depth of colour in my card by using various colours of card stock. With this in mind I cut a broad strip of brown, a medium strip of coral and a thinner strip of yellow card and white embossed an image over the top. I thought a thank you sentiment was also suitably autumnal :)

    kick start day 3

This is my second post today so please scroll down for my CASE study card :) I'm quickly popping in to share my homework from day 3 of the Kick Start Online Card Class which was to clear your desk and make a card with something you found while tidying up. Well on my desk was a Stampin' Up delivery, so I grabbed the opportunity with both hands to create this little card with my new stamps.

Isn't that little owl the cutest?! He's from Owl Occasions and I added googly eyes to ramp up the cuteness factor too. The ornaments he's hanging from the branch are from Traditional Touches. There was a lot of masking going on here to stamp each of the elements onto the white panel :) As Jennifer said in the video for this class; if it's not quite right then cover it up - those rhinestones add a bit of sparkle but also cover my slightly imperfect masking of the ornaments :))

Supplies: Stamps - Stampin' Up owl occasions, traditional touches; Inks - Versacolor scarlet, pinecone, sky gray, Martha Stewart Meyer lemon, ocean; Card - Stampin' Up baja breeze; Rhinestones - Stampin' Up

    case study challenge 109

Wow, today almost snuck up on me LOL! How did Thursday happen so fast! Well the good news is being Thursday means that it's time for another CASE study challenge with our wonderful muse for September, Torico. Here's this weeks inspiration:

Cute and a fab design too. I pretty much kept the design as is and just added a dose of cuteness from Torico's Hauntingly Delightful stamps set she designed for There She Goes.

I didn't have grey card that matched the patterned paper so set to with some markers onto die cut cream card to get the right colour and feel for the moody clouds. Once again that bare tree branch makes an appearance as a spooky tree. Here's a close up of the little guy :) Oh and you totally can't see it but the cream card is embossed with a text background.

Please pop by the girls for more CASE study fun :)

    happy birthday

Over at There She Goes, the week before release week is know as There She Goes Again week!  This is when we (the Design Team) highlight a couple of the older TSG stamp sets to get a whole bunch of new ideas. This week the selected stamps sets are: Makea Wish, Wrapped in Joy, and Cupcake Mix & Match :) Oh and don't forget there's a sale on at TSG as they continue to celebrate their 4th birthday :)

I made this card with Cupcake Mix & Match for a teenage friend who just loves to bake. I wanted to make sure I hit the right amount of grown up feel while still being fun.

I've been noticing a trend to use glossy accents to highlight and add interest, so I went with a topping of gloss on my icing and cherry. Even though I was careful when adding the gloss and I still seem to have captured a few bubbles. Then again my cake icing is always a bit rustic so this is probably appropriate!

This photo also shows a favourite technique of mine to use dimensional adhesive to add visual interest to a simple card :)

Supplies: Stamps - There She Goes mix and match; Papers - My Mind's Eye lime twist life of the party; Dies - Lil' Inker Designs flags & tags
